How in the world do toddlers freeze in place with lit up eyes and a big smile when they hear Twinkle, Twinkle or Wheels on the Busfor the gazillionth time? Why don’t they throw a fit over that? Why not fall to the floor and wail their loudest over the poor music choice forced on them?
I guess tantrums only apply to: food-that-I-ate-just-fine-yesterday-but-now-I-hate. And, shoes-that-are-too-small-but-I-insist-on-wearing-them. And, clothes-that-are-inappropriate-for-the-weather-but-I-have-worn-them-all-summer-and-will-hold-my-arms-so-stiff-you-will-have-to-cut-off-my-shirt-if-you-want-me-to-change-it.
I’d prefer to listen to some good ol’ fashion rock. Loud. Of course, some of the lyrics aren’t appropriate for little ears…and definitely not at the volume I crank it to. Never fear, I have found a solution! Rockabye Baby! cd’s. They are a must have for any home with children. They transform some of the best rock songs into beautiful instrumental lullabies. Guitars and drums are traded for soothing mellotrons, vibraphones and bells, and the volume is turned down from an eleven to a two.
